Calculating…

Every star you saw up thereis a measurement.Every sign is a story.

Yuniverse keeps them apart and lets you enjoy both. The positions are calculated from published astronomy. The meanings are traditions, offered for reflection, never as predictions or science.

How Yuniverse works

  1. See the real sky

Start with what was actually there. Open the sky above you tonight, or the sky over the place and minute you were born. Every star, planet and phase is calculated, not drawn from imagination.

    Open your birth sky
  2. Turn the lens

Switch between Sky, what was measured, and Story, what traditions such as Western astrology have read in it. The two are always labelled, so you never mistake one for the other.

    See the Story chart
  3. Keep what matters

Keep a birth sky, a chart or a dream in your personal universe. It is stored on this device only, and one tap forgets it.

    How your data is kept

Right now, two zodiacs

AstronomyThe Sun is in the constellation …

Western astrologyThe Sun is in the sign …

Same Sun, same moment, two systems. Constellations are real regions of the sky; signs are equal slices counted from the March equinox, which has drifted over 2,000 years. Why they differ

Seven ways in.

A guide to each part

Everything that is ready today, what it shows, and how to use it.

A live map of the real sky over any place, at any minute from 1800 to 2050: 5,080 stars, the constellations, the Moon and its phase, and the planets, all calculated in your browser.

How to use it

  1. Open the sky. It starts above the main city of your time zone; tap the place name to choose another, or use your location.
  2. Drag the sky to look around. Pinch, scroll or press plus and minus to zoom. Arrow keys work too.
  3. Tap any star or planet to see what it is: its height above the horizon, direction, distance and constellation.
  4. Move the time ribbon under the sky to travel through the night, or press Play the night. Pick any date to see a different sky.

What you will see

  • Night and twilight drawn from the real height of the Sun.
  • A night timeline: sunset, full dark, when each planet rises, peaks and sets.
  • In the Story lens, the zodiac drawn on the Sun's real path, with each planet's sign.

What it is not

A telescope view or a photograph. Hills, light pollution and weather are not modelled.

Open the sky

The sky that was over you when you were born, rebuilt from your date, time and place, with the clock history of your birthplace taken into account.

How to use it

  1. Open your birth sky and complete the sentence: the date, the time, and the town or city.
  2. Say how sure you are of the time: to the minute, give or take up to three hours, or not at all.
  3. If your town is small, choose the nearest larger place and, if you know them, add your exact coordinates.
  4. Press Show my sky. The sky rewinds to your birth. Then read the two panels: Measured and Traditional.

What you will see

  • Whether you were born by day or night, where the Moon was and how full it was, which planets were up.
  • The star nearest the top of your sky, and the stars rising in the east.
  • If clocks changed that night, Yuniverse asks which time you meant instead of guessing.

What it is not

A horoscope. It is the sky; the Traditional panel shows what astrology says about it, labelled as such.

Open your birth sky

Your birth chart as Western astrology draws it, built from the same calculated sky, with the real constellations shown beside the signs.

How to use it

  1. First see your birth sky, then choose Read the story of this sky.
  2. Pick a house system (Placidus or Whole Sign) and how wide the aspect orbs should be. Both are conventions, so you choose.
  3. Tap a planet on the wheel, or its name in the list, to compare its measured position with its traditional reading.
  4. Switch the wheel to the Sky lens to see only what was measured.

What you will see

  • Two rings: the twelve equal signs, and the thirteen unequal constellations the Sun really crosses, Ophiuchus included.
  • Placements, houses, the Ascendant and Midheaven, and the major aspects, with their uncertainty when your birth time is approximate.
  • What the tradition associates with each placement, always attributed.

What it is not

A prediction, a personality verdict or advice. No houses or Ascendant are invented without a birth time.

Open the Story chart

A private journal for your dreams. You write what you dreamed and name what you felt; Yuniverse shows the patterns in your own entries over time, the Moon of each night, and what dream traditions have said about the symbols.

How to use it

  1. Open the dream journal soon after waking, while the dream is fresh.
  2. Write what you remember, in your own words. Then choose the feelings it left you with and how strong they were.
  3. Save it. It stays on this device only.
  4. After a few entries, open Your patterns to see which feelings and symbols return, and how they change over the weeks.

What you will see

  • Symbols found in your words, with what several traditions have associated with them.
  • Your own emotional patterns, counted only from the feelings you chose.
  • The real phase of the Moon on each dream night.

What it is not

A diagnosis, therapy or a prediction. Nothing is inferred about your mental health. If dreams are troubling you, talking to a doctor or counsellor can help.

Open the dream journal

Don't know your exact birth time?

That is common, and Yuniverse never pretends otherwise. What you see depends on what you know.

To the minute

The full sky, the horizon, the rising sign and the houses, each to the degree.

Roughly

The sky for the middle of your window, with star trails showing how far it turned. Anything that could change inside the window, such as the rising sign, is shown as a range.

Not at all

Every bright star's full daily circle, the Sun and planets in their signs for that day, and no rising sign or houses, because those need a time.

Different traditions. One mind looking up.

Your birth sky, your chart and your dreams stay connected in one private place, so each one adds to the next. Every reading tells you which lens it comes from: what was measured, or what a tradition says.

Sky · measured

Positions, phases, rise and set times. Calculated, checked against published examples, sources listed.

Your sky stays with you

  • Calculated on your device. Your birth date, time and place, and your dreams, are worked out in your browser. They are not sent to Yuniverse or anyone else.
  • Nothing kept unless you ask. Close the page and it is gone, unless you press Keep. Then it is stored on this device only.
  • Forget at any time. Every kept item has a Forget it button.
  • Location only when you press the button, rounded to about a kilometre, and never sent anywhere.

Questions

Is astrology science?

No. Astronomy is the science of what is in the sky; astrology is a set of symbolic traditions built on top of it. Yuniverse calculates the sky with published astronomy and shows astrology clearly labelled as tradition, for reflection and curiosity.

Why is my sign different from the constellation the Sun was in?

Because they are two systems. Constellations are real regions of the sky, of unequal size, and the Sun passes through thirteen of them, including Ophiuchus. Signs are twelve equal slices counted from the March equinox, a point that slowly drifts against the stars as Earth's axis wobbles. Over two thousand years they have moved about a sign apart.

What if I don't know my birth time?

Choose how sure you are. With an approximate time, anything that could change within your window is shown as a range. With no time, you still see the planets in their signs for that day, but no rising sign or houses, which depend on the hour.

My town isn't in the list.

The list holds about 34,000 places of 15,000 people or more, from GeoNames. Choose the nearest larger place in the same time zone and add your town's coordinates for a precise horizon.

Is anything I enter stored or shared?

Nothing is sent anywhere. Calculations happen on your device, and nothing is stored there either unless you press Keep. You can forget anything you kept.

Where does the astronomy come from?

Published methods (Jean Meeus, NASA JPL), the Yale Bright Star Catalogue, the official IAU constellation boundaries and the IANA time zone database. Every source and its accuracy is on the sources page.

Will tarot, numerology and the other doors come?

Yes, one at a time, each built with the same care: the tradition explained and labelled, nothing presented as fact.

Start with the sky you were born under.
